Stefano Maffei, an Architect, has a Ph.D. in Design and is an Associate Professor at the School ofDesign, Politecnico di Milano, he teaches Product-Service System Design. He’s the Director ofPolifactory (www.polifactory.polimi.it/) the new makerspace-Design Factory of Politecnico di Milano.He has recently coordinated the EU funded project DeEP (Design in European Policies,www.deepinitiative.eu/) and the Politecnico Unit within EDIP (European Design Innovation Platform(http://designforeurope.eu/). He’s also the Coordinator of the recently founded Design Policy Lab,Politecnico di Milano (www.designpolicy.eu). His current research and work interests are focused onservice design driven innovation, design-driven innovation in local productive systems, newproduction-distribution models, and advanced-distributed-micro manufacturing systems. He was thepast coordinator (2005-2010) of Sistema Design Italia Agencies Network (SDI) and he directedDesign Research Maps, a National Research which studied Academic Design Research activities inItaly (2008-2010) that received the ADI’s (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale) XXII° CompassoD’Oro Prize for Design Research (2011).
